Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Webespire Consulting Inc. (“Webespire”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit webespire.com, contact us or subscribe to our newsletter. We work with businesses in Canada, the USA, the UK, Australia, Singapore, the Middle East, France and Italy, so it also explains the choices and rights you may have depending on where you live.
Who is responsible for your information
Webespire Consulting Inc. is responsible for personal information collected through this website. Our contact address is 78 Alder Drive, Inuvik, NT X0E 0T0, Canada. For any privacy question or request, email info@webespire.com and put “Privacy request” in the subject line.
Information we collect
We aim to collect only what we need for the purposes in this policy.
- Information you give us. Your name, email address, the service you are interested in and your message when you use our contact form; your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter; and anything you include when you email, call or message us (for example on WhatsApp) or send us a job application at our published addresses.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may record technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the date and time. We use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix faults.
- Your cookie choices. A first-party cookie remembers your cookie preferences. We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
- Technical data sent to content delivery networks. Some images and icons on this site, such as country flags and technology logos, are loaded from third-party content delivery networks. When your browser requests those files, it sends the provider technical data, including your IP address.
How we use information
- To respond to enquiries and requests, such as a strategy call, a website or SEO audit or a quote.
- To scope, deliver and manage services you ask us to provide, which are governed by a separate written agreement or proposal.
- To send our newsletter if you have subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To keep records, meet legal and accounting obligations, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Legal bases
Where the law of your country requires a legal basis for using personal information (for example under the EU or UK GDPR), we rely on: your consent (for the newsletter and for optional cookies); steps needed to respond to your request or to enter into a contract with you; our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving our business and website, balanced against your rights; and legal obligations.
Newsletter and marketing messages
We send our newsletter to people who have asked to receive it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe option in our emails or by writing to info@webespire.com. Unsubscribing does not affect service messages about work you have asked us to do.
International transfers
Webespire is based in Canada and works with clients in several countries. Your information may be processed and stored in Canada and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws where you live. Where the law requires safeguards for such transfers, we put them in place before transferring information. Contact us if you would like more detail.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, including to meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Enquiries that do not lead to a service relationship are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymised. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Security
We use technical and organisational safeguards that are appropriate to the risk, and we limit access to personal information to people who need it for their work. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information;
- withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect use before you withdrew it);
- receive your information in a portable format;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell it, see above);
- not be treated unfairly for exercising your rights; and
- complain to a data protection regulator.
To exercise a right, email info@webespire.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the time allowed by the law that applies to you. If we cannot do what you ask, we will explain why.
Where you live matters. The list below is a guide to the laws and regulators people most often ask about; which law applies depends on where you are and how you deal with us.
- European Economic Area, including France and Italy: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and national ePrivacy rules. You can complain to your local supervisory authority, such as the CNIL in France or the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali in Italy.
- United Kingdom: UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
- Canada: Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, in Quebec, the province’s private-sector privacy law. Commercial email is also covered by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
- United States: depending on your state (for example California), you may have rights to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We honour a Global Privacy Control signal for optional cookies.
- Australia: the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. You can complain to us first and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
- Singapore: the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. The regulator is the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).
- Middle East: privacy laws differ by country. For the United Arab Emirates, see Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, where it applies.
